FAQ’s

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, over a net. It couldn’t be easier to have a go at Pickleball and discover for yourself just how much fun it is!No special equipment is required and any comfortable clothing is fine. Trainers / tennis shoes are recommended.

What is Padel?

Padel is a sport which combines action with fun and social interaction. It’s a great sport for players of all ages and skills, as it is both quick and easy to pick up. Most players get the basics within the first half an hour of playing so that they can enjoy the game.

Padel is not as dominated by strength, technique and serve as it happens in Tennis and therefore is an ideal game for men, women and youth to compete together. An important skill is match-craft, as points are won rather by strategy than by sheer strength and power.

What happens if I’m booked on to a class, but the weather is bad?

We only stop our classes if the weather is making it dangerous to play e.g., ice, snow, extreme winds, or heavy and persistent rain. Your coach will contact you before the class is due to take place via email, text, or WhatsApp in this situation.

If GO Tennis cancels a class due to weather or coach illness an extra session will be made up at the end of the beginning of the next term. However, if you choose not to join due to the weather and your class is still on, we cannot refund you the session.

When do you take bookings for your new courses?

We generally open our new class bookings in the last week of the current term. We will let people know via email, social media and our website when the bookings are open.

How many people do you coach in one class?

This is dependent upon the age groups however the ratios are a maximum of 6-8 per coach.

What do I do if me or my child can’t make a session?

Just let us know – where possible we will try and move you to an alternative session. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund any missed classes.

Can I drop my child off or do I need to stay?

Your child can be dropped off and left however we advise you do this at your own discretion. If your child needs additional support for example, is not comfortable using the toilet by themselves, we suggest that you stay for their class.

What qualifications do your coaches have?

All our coaches as fully DBS checked and have safeguarding training where applicable. Our coaches have LTA Accreditation as well as basic first aid. Jasper Allen, our head coach, is also an IPTPA qualified Pickleball instructor.

Do I need to be a member of a club to have coaching?

No but you might benefit from additional opportunities to play so recommend you join one of our local clubs.
